Rio de Janeiro’s mayor, Eduardo Cavaliere, has banned Chappell Roan from performing at the city’s largest music event, Todo Mundo no Rio, after Brazilian football player Jorginho alleged that her security team mistreated his 11-year-old daughter. Jorginho shared a post on Instagram claiming that Roan’s security guard spoke to his daughter and wife in an ‘extremely aggressive manner’ at a hotel. The incident occurred when Jorginho’s daughter recognized Roan at the hotel and walked past her table to confirm her identity.
The mayor has offered Jorginho’s daughter an invitation to attend the upcoming Todo Mundo no Rio event as an honored guest. Chappell Roan has not publicly addressed the allegations, but she did thank her security team during her performance at Lollapalooza Brazil. The incident has sparked a debate about fan behavior and the treatment of celebrities, with several celebrities coming out in support of Roan, including Doja Cat and Noah Kahan.
